Newly installed high head site near Hebden Bridge

Some photos of a newly installed high head hydropower system near Hebden Bridge. The system is a turgo turbine (from Richard Drover) and control system from SCS and was installed by Derwent Hydro. The system is fully automated - a level sensor and control unit maintains flow via the 2 spear valves.

The system has a net head of around 45 metres and uses a max flow of around 40 litres a second - it was producing 10.9kW when I visited. The system is grid connected supplying the owners house - LoCO2 have an agreement to purchase the energy exported to the grid.

All in all a very efficient and professional system.
