    Hydropower developments - new turbines

2 new designs of hydropower system have recently been brought to market. The designs are similar in many ways, although are for different applications.

Estriatus Energy's Drag-On Power turbine is a floating system (using kinetic energy - or river flow, similar to an undershot waterwheel) suitable for rivers of 1 metre or more deep and 3.5 metres wide with flow speeds of 1-3mps.

The Steffturbine uses a similar conveyor-based system however the turbine is fixed in position and requires a head of 2-4 metres and a flow of 100-400 l/s.
